Oneitis is something you'll deal with early on, but the only want to truely get over it is to have other women going on.

I met an attractive girl that has a lot going on for her. She rides motorcycles, volunteers in the political sphere and can easily hold an intelligent conversation with me. I have 3-4 other girls on the go, who require some of my attention.

Old me (a year ago) would have been all over this girl and scared her off. My emotional distance gives her the space she needs to become interested in me, at her own pace. It's easy to smother high value women since they're used to be fawned over.
