Mine is not as badass as yours but I have a similar story. After a night out with the class, we all went back to the house to cool down and chill. One girl from the class brings a guy along about an hour after we've all got back. However she is a notorious cock tease and brings home men and has no intentions of doing anything with them (what a fucking bitch right?)

So, he's there topless on the bed while we are all feeling pretty awkward just sitting on the floor discussing how the night went. This poor chump is drunk and desperately trying to get the girl he came with to her own bedroom. After she eventually kicks him out (purposely taking her time so she can be like 'ohhh all the guys want me they follow me ohh what am I supposed to do' etc etc) and we all relax and begin to chill.

So I'm canoodling this hb8 on the sofa in the living room now with our class and we proceed to go into ghost stories, stating whether we believed in them or not and we go into some deep scary stories. All of a sudden we hear the back door opening. All the girls are quiet as a Frodo escaping a nazgul (I just watched LOTR again) and all of a sudden this dude bursts into the room scaring the shit out of us all.

I immediately stand up and ask what the hell is he doing entering this house and he goes 'OHHH LADD i've forgotten my skittles and diary milk, that's like 2 pounds worth of candy and stuff!' So I ask him where did he leave it, escort him to where he thought he left it (turns out he didn't have any such thing) and starts rambling on about how this girl broke his heart and she won't have sex with him.

Anyway Caroline (who's a tough lass) interferes and basically listens to him monologue while I just stand guard making sure he doesn't flip out. He eventually leaves and we lock all the doors and windows. Hb8 at this point fell asleep but the girls mentioned my bravery the next morning, which eventually lead to hb8 dating me for a while afterwards.

You were partly at fault here, for getting yourself into a position where you could be isolated and attacked. It's your responsibility as a man to take care of logistics, which includes getting to and from venues easily and without trouble. Be more careful of that.

This scenario was a good example of Frame Control, but it was risky and could just as easily gone wrong. But let's vaguely put your scenario in the category of "nonviolent de-escalation." There are many methods of of de-escalation, I've taken workshops on this subject from Peacekeepers. These guys are seriously hardcore. They do things like form lines of unarmed peacekeepers between civilians and the military, in war zones.

First, that was a very dangerous situation.

But you handled it, like you are supposed to, you kept your cool, and made a very nervous kid calm down too, if you had freaked out and get all nervous, things could had go wrong.

Also remember that you are with a girl, a delicate been that needs protection (no sexist), and any outcome, was your responsibility.

I have a bad habit of breaking up fights when I go out to the clubs if it happens close by. I've stopped a couple of full-blown brawls from escalating just by putting myself in between and making eye contact / forcibly separatig the combatants. Girls are pretty impressed with how calm and composed I am in these situations, and luckily I've never been seriously hurt doing this. 5'10" 140 lbs. And i've dove in on some pretty rough situations.

I also am the kind of guy that will calm down really drunk people and defuse situations that occur, which I've received a lot of respect for from bar staff and friends alike.
