I Divorced 6 mo. ago (no kids tho) and found myself alone in a city with no social life. I've got a great job, love fitness and am generally enjoying my new life -- however I think (after finally refurnishing my house) I'm ready to start dating.

.

Any other time in my life where I have been dating, I've always been surrounded by friends and a "happening" social scene so it was very easy to get girls to fall for me. I always had something fun and social going on that I could take my dates on -- and it was always a blast.

.

Now that I'm 30, alone in the city, and things have slowed (even back "home" is different; "all my rowdy friends have settled down") I find it hard to wrap my head around how dating is supposed to work now....

.

I've done a little dating lately and can create attraction and get laid but it fizzles out soon after because (I think) I don't have a social life. When every date is a solo experience, just me and the girl, it is difficult to continue to create good experiences that build relationships between 2 people.

.

A: Anyone in my shoes have luck creating a real relationship when your "solo"?

.

B: Anyone have any luck creating a new social life from scratch? (I play softball, meet people at the gym, I've even done meetups.com (some real creeps) ) but don't seem to develop anything beyond acquaintances -- not friends that I can hang out with every now and then and go to a game .etc ; it seems almost impossible breaking down the acquaintance barrier -- even with my work buddies.
