I continued with my plan before and decide instead to ask a question which had better intentions behind it. Doing this during daylight and having clear intentions (Actually needing to know where to go) made approaching so much easier and I probably going to have to make it more challenging for myself next time.
The intentions behind my question were authentic as I wanted to know where a particular park I had always wanted to go to was but never got around to vist. The added benefit of course was getting better at my approaches.
The first approach was pretty easy and I asked a girl where the park was and she kindly attempted to show me directions and apologised for not giving the best directions. I thank her and move on.
The second approach was 2 girls. I was proud of this approach as I had some AA but still was able to approach anyway. They told me the general direction which was the opposite direction so I awkwardly cross the road and walk the other way.😂
The third approach was a girl in a mask and she had no clue what I was talking about so I just told her no worries and moved on.
The fourth approach was some girl with AirPods and as I asked she almost walked past me but stopped just past me and I asked her where the park was and thanked her. This gave me some interesting insight into approaching people with earphones.
At this point it was dark there were not many people around to ask for directions so I decided to turn back but I still wanted to hit my target of 5 approaches.
The fifth approach was just as I was walking back and she in detail explained where the entrances to the park were and also explained how it was likely closed as it was dark and we both had a laugh about that. I feel like there was definitely an opportunity here to expand upon conversation but I was already taking way to long on my walk and had to get back.
Happy about hitting my target doing significantly better than yesterday I decide to ask one more person for direction back home which went down without problems as the girl I asked was super friendly.
Overall I think today was extremely easy as I didn't experience much AA after the second approach. I think something I need to work on is speaking in a lower pitch as I tend to speak a lot from the nose and not from the chest. Other than that I think I need to add a bit more to it so that I can experience more approach anxiety but overall although I am taking small steps it was an overall success!
there doesn't seem to be anything here
