This is something I think a lot of guys have a problem with but isn't acknowledged enough. This happens to me whenever i'm on my own or zoned out like just before bed, I daydream way too much. This wouldn't be a problem if it happened sporadically, but it doesn't and i feel like it creates unreasonable expectations as a result of excessive daydreaming.

For example when I do daydream, I daydream about talking to some girl and imagining being together, I imagine me being the hero in a lot of scenarios etc. This happens often and then reality comes along and can't live up to that. I'm not some guy who never talks to girls and just imagining them to make myself feel better, I daydream because it's an improvement to whatever I am like now. So even if in reality I ended up being extremely smooth with girls and ended up saving lives by becoming some superhero, I'm sure I would daydream about something more. I feel like this logic can be applied to a lot of people here, we're always imagining a better version of our lives and get stuck within them. Then you unfairly compare your life to your imagination and bring yourself down. Even if you spent the time that you were daydreaming doing nothing, I think you'd be a much happier person.

This isnt me saying never daydream; that's unrealistic, but keep it restricted and if you drift into it while you're in bed etc, just stop, mentally tell yourself to stop and focus on whatever you're trying to do. This is hard since technically there is 'no harm' in daydreaming, but you know better. I've started to do it recently and it makes me feel so much better, I hope it helps you
