Hello, I'm still a beginner I'd say and I have a question about a scenario that I've run into a few times and how you go about dealing with it.

So when I cold approach during the day I open with something like telling them I think their cute while stopping and asking for their name, and they will politely tell me their name, we shake hands, but then when I start to talk to them they start doing this thing where there kinda trying to walk away, but they don't and it's this sorta awkward position where I'm not sure what to do.

I understand that they don't owe me a conversation, and when it happens it usually ends with them telling me they have a boyfriend or some kind of excuse, which I'm perfectly fine with, but the conversation we have up until I ask for their number feels kinda wrong.

I'm just wondering what my move should be when I notice them kinda getting ready to walk away right after introduction to a make the interaction a smoother interaction. I feel like just letting them walk away would be strange because they don't fully leave, they still are looking at me and waiting for what I'm gonna say next.

Thanks!
