There is one basic rule in negotiating and that is to let the other person set the price first. The person who sets the price first reveals their hand, and loses power in doing so. That is why in job interviews when they ask you for your salary you say "negotiable" in an effort to deflect to them to set the price before you do. Most people negotiate with themselves first, and if you find out their offer before they find out yours, you're putting yourself at an advantage.

The same goes with defining a relationship. This is why I never have a talk about what I want in the relationship or even set specific goals in the relationship. Instead I let it take its course and wait until the other person reveals what exactly they want out of the relationship. I don't come out and say I want to fuck them, nor do I come out saying I want them to be my girlfriend. Instead I keep the interaction going, and do not define what I want, waiting for her to come out with what she is looking for.

Thoughts? Do you like to set clear, straightforward goals with your girl, or do you wait for her to come to you to ask to define things?
