I just say my age. I knew a 35yo (10 years ago) who used to tell women in their early to mid 20's as a response that he likes mature 28 year olds...then they would qualify themselves to him. worked for him but I never tried it.

It really depends though on the type of person she is, some are shit test,some just an honest question. Establish the type of person she is first. I've had this back fire many times. Just different strokes for different folks.

How to I respond to this question as 18 when I approach older girls? I usually make it fun and joke around but sometimes when I reveal my age they lose interest even tho we were vibing well. I move on easily but it feels like something that can be improved on

I actually really like this. Say your 28 and she says she only likes 25 and younger then you just say, "sorry, I'm too old for you" and start to walk away. She will either let you walk away or pursue you. Either case is a win. She either enters your frame or leaves.

I'm 22 and I've date girls both 4 years older and younger than me. None of them cared. If I feel like joking around about it, then I do, if not, then not. By no means I have any kind of script to answer that rofl.

I mean, asking your age isn't a test of any kind, but the responses and follow up questions almost always are. I prefer to just, say how old I am. Then if there's shit test like follow up, deal with that with the "amuse yourself/brush it off without being a dick about it" vibe.

If you're older you go older. "Let's put it this way, We'd better hurry up because the elder care nurses at my home are going to notice I'm gone any minute. Oh, by the way, are you into rubber sheets?"

If you're younger you say "don't worry about it, my parents won't press charges for statutory."

Also notice the other frame in both statements.

Whatever you say, be sure you say it in a fun and playful manner. Also, mix direct answers with indirect. The whole point of indirect answers is to be unpredictable. But when every answer is indirect it becomes predictable and boring.

1) What is your name? Say my name was Daniel. So I take my name and relate it to a famous actor. I say "Daniel. Like Daniel Radcliffe. I was actually his stunt double. You don't see the resemblance?..."

2) What type of girls do you like? Agree and amplify. Make sure to have a smile on your face. I'd say something like "I like girls with tattoos all over their body and piercings everywhere. And one of those bowl rings in their lip. Like they do in those African tribes. And eye liner. Lots of eyeliner...." Or "Well according to Freud I like girls like my mom. So you better be able to cook well and tuck me in at night..."

3) What do you want to drink? Just say what you literally want to drink. I wouldn't make a game out of this question, for it will confuse and frustrate. the girl as well as the bartender.

4) What do you do for fun? This is similar to "What do you do for a job?" question. Usually I mix in fact with fiction. I start out with some mundane things, like reading and boxing, then mix in some radical things like I say I teach dolphins at the zoo how to balance balls on their snout.

5) What time is it? Who in this day and age asks this question with the advent of the cell phone? If she actually asks that it is a huge IOI. Don't just let her off the hook. Ask her why she wants to know the time. Once she tells you that make a conversation out of it. Watch her body language. If she starts looking annoyed, just give her the time. Otherwise, have fun with her and laugh internally at this cheesy excuse to talk with you.

6) Do you know where the coat check is? This isn't a date question and it is hard to make anything out of it. If you know the answer I would just point her in the right direction.

7) Should we sit outside or inside? Be the decision maker. Make a choice and be proud of the choice you made. Choose obviously based on the weather.

Just say your age, damn. My current SO tried telling me he was 15, and he does look pretty young, so I believed him and rejected him at first.. because I don't want to go to jail. He's 21. He thought I was 23, when I'm 27. There are valid reasons to want to know someone's age, it's not always a game.

Personally, I just lie! I tend to go for girls as young as possible (16 is legal here) and i'm nearly 30. I tend to tell girls i'm 22 and i'm yet to be 'called on it'. Most important, especially if she appears much younger or older than you: before you reveal your age, ask her "What is your age limit?". Have her establish this. This is one of the first rules in negotiation: make your peer reveal their hand before you do and you gain a serious advantage. Usually she will be generous with her age limit, saying a range that encompasses your current age.

Strongly disagree with that. You give in to her frame, by giving her the thought you could be too young or too old, even though she doesn't think about it right now. Just make clear you don't care, and pull her into your own world. if she has a problem with it, she will tell you herself, without you having to "negotiate"...

This is not overthinking -- if you're picking up girls with a big age delta to yourself.

I am 43 years old, hitting on girls 22-35. I have a baby face, I'm in decent shape, and dress pretty young. No girl would ever guess I'm 43... they'd guess 30-35, younger in bars. Most of the girls I hit on would not date me if they knew how old I was... especially at first.

-- I have said "17... but don't worry, I like older girls"

-- "17... 70... somewhere in there"

Usually, if I give some kind of mild joke answer 2-3 times, she'll laugh and she stops asking.

I'm amazed that I don't get asked about my age more often. Not once in the last 4 dates (girls were probably 24, 26, 31, and 30). None of them asked.

Recently, I opened a girl and the first words out of her mouth were "I'm 18." I'm not aiming for 18 (she looked older), and my response was "what does that mean to you?" I liked it. Felt confident. I think that's particularly fun way to deal with any age question...

^ That, with some serious eye contact, and you're off into rapport or attraction, depending on where you take the conversation.
