Have you talked to about it? We don't know her, so we have no idea what would trigger her -- if anything. I was with an assault victim once who loved rough sex. Sex on the floor? Yes. Choking? Yes please. Chocking on the floor? Triggered a panic attack. It's not a rational or even controlable response by like, definition.

It's possible she wants to go very slow, it's possible she want's her sex life to be defined by positive experiences instead of assault. If anyone knows, it's her, so you should go to talk to her about it. You say communication is open, so tell her you want to be intimate and how you like to have sex, and see how she wants to proceed.

I love how you are approaching this with such thoughtfulness and care. It will take time, but you’ll have to build up a lot of trust. Talk about your boundaries, and respect them. see what she comfortable with and what she isn’t. It may take a lot of time to build up to sexual intimacy.

And when you get there, again, communicate about it! Ask her what you can do to help her relax and enjoy it. She might not want penetration for instance. I wish you a lot of luck, and have fun :)

Fuck that. She needs to handle her own baggage it’s not your job to be anything but yourself. If she’s not ready to date or whatever you can’t change that by being extra careful. It’s just not within your control.
