Yes, don’t over think this. Believe the words people use. So she got out of a 5 year relationship and probably doesn’t know for sure what she wants. She doesn’t want to get hurt, but as for something casual, you just don’t know yet. And you shouldn’t ask her yet either because again she likely doesn’t know. So maybe just hang out some more, see if there is a connection and some sexual tension, and then if there is, then you can bring it up and get her thoughts. Just be respectful and kind and chance are she will be open to something.

okay this makes sense, thanks for laying this out for me. She works all the time though because I guess she is in between 2 jobs so getting her out is my next challenge lol.

Well, it seems like you’re jumping to conclusions without enough evidence. She doesn’t want anything serious. What that means for her exactly depends. It sounds like she’s up for a more casual relationship. But she could reasonably change her mind in the future. Rather than thinking so much about that, I’d think about what you want from her and whether you can get that. Do you want a serious romance? A FWB? To get to know her better? Someone to have some fun dates with?

I just got out of a serious relationship a couple months ago myself so I don't want to date either. Truthfully, I'm down to just go do fun shit with her but at the same time I won't be complaining if she wants to be fwb as well. But I am trying to gauge what she wants and I think your right, I just don't have enough information at this point to know exactly. I guess I'm just going to have to take her out and see... Thanks

Generally I think it’s better to pursue what you want, and then you can judge how receptive she is to that from her reaction rather than trying to figure out what she wants. Since you and she don’t want a serious romance, that seems good for you two. Have fun.
