What you need to understand is there is no bad teases, as long as you do not care about what happens.
What is a tease? Basically a way to show a girl that you have your own mind, own values and see her as she is, without any pink lenses.
You are outcome dependent. There is no need to be arrogant, arrogance comes from one thing: you should be so self sufficient that any reaction can’t get to you (aka holding frame).
Arrogance is not a tool, it is the result of abundance. Also, stop teasing via texts if it creates troubles for you. It is ok to be a jerk if you are a jerk, do not try to become a jerk to “increase attraction”.
When your tease are not working, you continue as nothing happened, because it is a tease, joke. As long as you are not insulting someone why should you apologize?

Thanks, that's a great mindset to have. I'll be outcome independent and stop caring. Likely my problem was, like with many beginners, that I cared too much about one particular girl. And they sense that really fast and get even colder.
As for apologizing, I did it after coming across like a jerk even though I'm not one and I didn't try to be that. I tried to tease to be fun in conversation and create attraction but sometimes that backfires. But as you said it's best to be outcome independent
