That's a great second date, especially if you think she also felt like the 1st date ended early

If you didn't kiss I feel like its early to invite her over. I could be wrong. She may well accept but you risk killing it. I would invite her out to dance and then invite her back for a nightcap after the outing.

Why didn't you kiss? It's your job as the guy to make that happen. If you get rejected do 2 steps back and 1 step forward: back off, take it slow and try again the next date.
Don't try to BS her into coming over to your place with activities when you know you want sex, and she knows it too. At the end of your next date invite her over for a drink. You need to make your intentions clear and lead the romance.
I've always went for the kiss during the 1st date AND invited her over. And even though I get denied the invitation to my place on the 1st date it at least shows that I'm attracted to her and would like to get romantic some time. Then I ask again on the 2nd date and it usually happens.

I feel you, just don’t like to all the time. For me, it builds tension. Similar to what your saying, if she denies me now, all I can do is pitch the kayaking. If that works, then your last paragraph still stands. If it don’t, oh well lol.
I’d hardly call it bs, I’m legitimately trying to get some free dance lessons out of this.. 😂 /s
