Hoping that someone you click with randomly comes across your IG handle and decides to follow you sight-unseen is the least proactive way to meet new people I can imagine. It's fishing, not just in overfished waters, but with no bait on the hook. To stretch the analogy too far, get your feet wet and dive in rather than wait around. The best fish are too deep for the passive fisherman anyway.

Honestly, I prefer keeping it private than open to anyone. Realistically speaking, most of the times, you'll only get dates through Instagram if you have a mutual connection (friend of a friend) or have met.

My advice is to keep it as how you feel. Private can add more mysterious and it's one more way to build up in a conversation and sharing contact details.

Also, if you have to choose between getting a phone number or an Instagram/snap, go for the phone number. It's more exclusive
