I found that paying for a table not only to be a huge waste of money but even counter productive to meeting people.

If done right, having a table can make your social proof go through the roof. If you have the money (and only if you have the money - don't waste your money on this if you don't), I recommend getting bottle service whenever you can as tables often attract the hottest women in a club. Keep in mind though that if a venue has dozens of tables, then it won't be as valuable. However, if it only has a few, then it can be extremely beneficial for you and your game.

For example, I have a rich buddy who got into a college night at a club once by paying off the bouncer and getting a table. He was the only one in that club with a table + bottle service so he invited all the hottest college girls there to join him for free drinks. They absolutely loved it and he ended up taking two of them home for a wild night of threesome sex.

If you're not loaded though, then do not waste your money on a table. See if you can make friends with whoever has one instead. I read a FR here once from a dude who lives in Vegas where he approached two dudes just like that and brought women to their table, becoming instant friends with them and being invited to go out with them again the next night.

Maybe it's just not done in my nearby big city, but I've never had a bouncer reject me at the door, nor seen it done to anybody but extremely wasted people. I'm not the biggest club rat in the world, but I've been a couple dozen, and the idea of a bouncer rejecting you because you aren't wearing the right shoes or don't have a woman with you is something I've only seen on TV.

Tyler from RSD commented once that he would go up to a group of random hot girls, ask them "Do you guys need to get in?" (implying he worked at the club), and then go to the bouncer and say "It's just us" (making the bouncer think he was a cool dude with lots of hot girls), and then he would get let in along with the girls.
