The question you're thinking about is also good to add to this conversation because playfulness alone is just like icing on a cake, actually getting to know someone is the cake itself.
That said, you gotta learn to talk to girls. You can't just ask reddit to have conversations with girls for you, eventually you gotta have the ability to come up with good things to say on your own.

I escalate and set up dates within 5-6 messages always. I save all the connecting and getting to know them for the date.

I understand that, I always ask 1 get to know you question and escalate towards the date. My goal is the date. And this is on Instagramin my opinion you can't be so straightforward in Instagram

Ok then ask a better question.
“Was that your dream as a kid” is boring and not building tension.
You want her to be attracted to you. Not thinking about how she used to feel as a little kid.
Your first messages should be building tension and making her interested in you. You want her to be looking forward to the date.
I usually use the first few messages to talk about a shared interest or a date idea. I transition this into a date invite by message 6 or so. Then I don’t really small talk until the date. If we hit it off then I’ll be more likely to text them like I would my friends. But I’m not wasting my time texting every new girl I date before I know if they’re actually worth my time.
Btw there’s nothing wrong with asking for help from time to time. As long as you’re putting in the work to improve irl, you will get better.

I feel you. My in person game is wayyyyy better than anything I say on text. In text I try to be direct and make sure the woman knows I’m trying to date her, not be her buddy. You don’t have to be overly sexual. Just make sure your intentions are clear.

I feel like in person you can "get away" with more stuff beacuse the way you say means more than what you say. How would you escalate then? "I'm taking a sport degree" My mind is blank right now "Oh a fitness girl, sounds like my type
