My 5 years of college are about to come to an end. During this time I've been on 2 dates, the first one which was total bullshit, 2 years ago, and the second one, which was this past Friday with a girl I carpool on my sports team.
I am still trying to analyze how this last date went. I was exhausted from a lack of sleep, consumed with the idea of going on a date, but also curious about her mentioning she was going to see Endgame with some guy this weekend. She was pretty engaged throughout, while I probably could have been more engaged in the conversation. Because she claimed she was broke, I offered to buy breakfast. Honestly I don't regret it that much because I think we had a good time regardless.
Knowing that this was not a date and probably not a window into a real relationship or continued dates, I am starting to worry about what dating is like after college. I hate dating apps and would rather have a girl friend to get a girlfriend, if you know what I mean. I'd rather be friends first than go shopping for someone in an app, because then we'll already have a connection.
Clearly the answer is bars, clubs and parties to meeting girls after college. But this is not what my personality is like, and I doubt I'll find like minded women there. In reality, I'd probably do better on a college campus, grocery store, mall or bookstore, but again I'd have to find an excuse to talk to a stranger, which I've never had to do.
I can say that this issue weighs heavily on me every day, and it affects my ability to make rational decisions. I already have social anxiety, but this just adds to my anxiety even more. I don't know where to turn.
