Yesterday I went out with one of my boys and we were hitting it off pretty well with these two girls that we met that night. One dude (one of the girls coworkers) comes up to me and kinda tries to start beef with me and trying to subtly make fun of me. He’s trying to really test me, and prove to the girls he’s the alpha.
In my head I was just laughing so much because he seemed so worthless, but in reality what I did was just not give a shit what this dude was trying to say. I was there to have a good time, and wasn’t gonna amplify the situation by trying to seem “manlier” and try to start something. In fact, I just agreed with him nonchalantly, said short things like “yeah definitely”, “true”, “mhm interesting” and made his words seem so unimportant that he eventually subsided and backed off.
In the past I would’ve got so amped up in my head, adrenaline would’ve been running high in my body and I would’ve either started talking shit back, saying the wrong thing, or making fun of him and fucking up my chances with the girl.
My friend and I both ended up both taking the girls home and I asked her about it later. She said that he’s had a big crush on her for the longest time and she’s super happy nothing started and that I remained calm. In fact, she said it made her like me even more for it.
