A month ago, I went to a bar in a major Asian city by myself wearing a t-shirt and tennis shoes (sneakers, trainers, whatever the hell you call them).
At the bar, I got lucky. Two really attractive girls waltzed in and sat next to me. I struck up conversation and an hour later I ended up back at their place.
The entire night they made fun of what I was wearing. I looked like a scrub. Who in their right mind wears ‘trainers’ (insert British accent) to an upscale bar?
I still went home with them.
About a month later, I was traveling through the same city, so I texted one of the girls I had met. We met up for drinks, but this time, I looked nice. I wore nice clothes and leather boots instead of sneakers. When she saw me, it was the first thing she noticed. I saw her studying me.
“You look much better than you did the first time we met.”
“That’s no fun, I’m going home to change,” I fired back.
I went home with her in sneakers. I went home with her in leather booths.
Do looks matter?
Absolutely. She wouldn’t have gone home with me either night if she wasn’t attracted to me in some way. The first night I was attractive enough, even with my worn down Nikes.
But the second night, I stood out. And her biological nature took notice - I took care and respected myself - maybe I could do the same for her? She looked at me differently, like she was attracted in a deeper way.
Looks increase your chances for success with women. Especially if you want a girlfriend or something long-term. You already know that. But do you take the time to improve them?
It’s a marginal time commitment. It takes one afternoon and a few bucks to buy some clothes you like, that compliment your style, and fit you. It takes less than 5 minutes to throw pomade in your hair. It takes less than 2 to consciously think that boots might be a better look than your more comfortable sneaks.
The shoes your identity is begging you to wear.
Maybe if you don’t dress up the blow of failure won’t be so bad. You didn’t try after all.
If you dress up well, it will increase your self-confidence. You’re controlling everything you can. What you're wearing doesn't only cover basic attraction needs, it also adds to your presence. With women, small attention to style says a lot about your character.
And character is what women foam at the mouth for.
