Although I've been doing rather well with flakes lately, a recent interaction with a girl made me ponder something...

(mini FR)

I was at a club/art space last weekend watching lots of live music and having a few drinks with some friends when I spotted a slightly hipster looking, extremely sexy Korean girl. I chatted with her a bit but she was quite busy because it turns out she was in one of the bands and also responsible for a large part of the publicity for the event. As a result, I didn't get the chance to build as much comfort as I would have liked. The end of the night rolled around and I ended up getting her number as I was leaving the place. I texted her later and her responses were a bit sparse and I kinda assumed she would flake. She ended up confirming for a date later this week but during that questionable time, I was wondering... would I have been better off giving her my facebook? Below are some benefits and disadvantages of each from my point of view:

Facebook:

pros

-Allows a girl to see what your interests are
-Girl can get a better impression of what you look like
-Girl can confirm that you have many friends (or appear to)
-Girl can see that other women are interested in you

cons

-Girl can judge how good looking or bad looking you are very easily
-Takes away some of the mystery before a first date
-If you are a boring person, it will be apparent
-Girl may be hesitant to add strangers as friends

In my case, having traveled the world quite a lot and being a bit of an amateur photographer, women that see my profile almost always want to meet me more. This can be a big advantage if I didn't get a chance to properly build comfort or qualify myself. I also consider myself an attractive man, so facebook works to my favor in this regard as well. In the case of the hipster girl, I believe if she had seen my profile instead of having little to go on, she would have been much more eager to meet me. I know as a guy, I often try to find a girl on facebook before I meet her anyway, to make sure she is as cute as I thought she was. I don't usually add her until a while later, if at all though.

Phone number:

pros

-Quick and easy to get, usually little hesitation
-Allows me to keep women and my female interactions separate from the more public domain that facebook is (think family and friends)
-More mysterious

Cons

-Easy for a woman to flake and simply not respond the next day
-Women may not remember you well if drinking was involved

Almost always what I go for. Works fairly well and texting allows it to be easier to get less flakes with women who feel uncomfortable talking with you again after a day or two. I wonder though, is being mysterious or unknown better or worse for seduction? Maybe numbers = more flakes?

Opinions?
