This isnt a report that ends positively, so I would really appreciate any advice sedditors would offer to me. About me: Asian Indian/Born in New York/5 feet 5/good strong built/ Have a maintained beard and tie a man bun. About Her: Blonde/7/Nurse. Before I moved to Portland I was browsing on tinder to look at the women and see how people were here. Matched with her about 5 months ago and since at the time I was India we exchanged numbers and said would meet once I get to Portland. During this time the conversation was limited to texts twice a month or so.

Now last Sunday I landed in Portland and texted her that I was here, she was very excited and herself asked me out and fixed a time for the very next day. Since I am new here I asked if we could meet near my place, so she drove her parents car to a pub near me. We meet shes sitting with her legs up on the patio totally chilled out. I go upto her, she starts to hug and I hold out my hand awkward crash then I hug her properly. We sit and start talking, usually conversation tricks, use teasing and comfort building, can notice a change in her body language gradually cause now shes talking while her eyes are looking into mine. We delve into Indian mythology(she likes it and its a strong topic for me so I use that). While were doing this an older couple on a date come and sit near us with their dog, both of us love dogs an thats a connecting point. The old couple start talking to us and the lady says to me that Ive got a real good gal here and that Im lucky and I reply that were not together yet and the lady then says "I get good vibes, dont worry about it", while "the gal" is talking to the older guy and probably doesnt hear what the lady said. So this ends and I ask her if can put my arm around her shoulder, while we sit back and she laughs and says you dont have to ask. I say that I belong to a different culture so. We talk a bit more about music now. Easy conversation not a problem at all. Then she has to go for a swim whereas she never mentioned this before that she had to leave early. So we decided to take a walk around the block, I put my arm around her waist and we walk again. Then we go back to her car and she drops me at my apartment building, before I leave again she moves in for the hug, I had my arm raised for a handshake awkward crash, I move in for the hug, kiss her on the cheek and we decide to text. She says that she might be busy for a while. Fast forward to next day: I text, how was the swim(i honestly thought she wouldnt reply) but she texted that it was good etc etc. We talked about Indian food Im having. I asked her about meeting next week and shes like lets meet but she is already seeing someone and that she likes learning from me but shes not looking for anything beyond being friends. I send a pretty causal reply back like "Sure thing" and that was it.

Now I know the basic mistake of arm shaking instead of hugging, lesson learnt. What else could I have differently?
