I am in high school and I asked out a girl I know fairly well, but we have never hung out outside of school before. Currently I work at a place that has a commercial-class kitchen, and I though cooking together could be a fun first date after six, which is when the place is empty.

I have heard that first dates should generally be in a public place and be short in case someone will want to leave, and I'm wondering if I should do something else for the first date?

I do have permission to bring people to the kitchen from my employer, and I've done it before with friends.
