I was bored today so I decided to whip up 5 conversation tips when gaming.

- Don’t go with the “emotional” flow of the conversation. In normal conversations, you listen to the other person’s words and observe their body language to determine where the conversation goes next. So, for example, if you see somebody is interested in a topic and enjoying talking about it, you normally don’t want to change the subject. But … when speaking to women, you sometimes have to. Women are attracted to dominant men that control things. Women exert a biological attraction on men, which can sometimes cause men to be “enraptured” by them and talk about whatever they want to talk about, even if it is boring, stupid, or ultimately harmful to the guy (i.e., talking about exes). Sometimes, you need to throw a grenade and change the subject. It is going to feel weird because you are not used to doing that in conversations, but you have to do it. Once you change the subject the girl will go along. A lot of guys wonder how to make the conversation more deep, or more sexual, or whatever – the answer is to just do it! Don’t wait for an opening where you think it would be appropriate to change the subject – just change it!

- Think before you speak. One advantage women have in conversations is that men think with their dicks a lot, whereas women do not have the same immediate, short-term, pressing need for sex. This often causes men to say stupid things whereas women can be more rational, especially in early conversations. All you have to do to get on equal footing is to just think for a moment before you answering any question or saying anything. Think about if you are going to say that thing because its right thing to say or because your dick is talking. It will make a world of difference.

- Add a twist to be more entertaining. The reason jokes are funny and movies/books/plays are entertaining is because the plot includes a twist that the audience didn’t expect. These types of media would not be as entertaining if they were completely predictable. To be more entertaining, add a twist to the things you say (this tip also goes along with my earlier one, which is that you should think before you speak). So, for example, a girl walks up to me and compliments my beautiful Christmas sweater. The immediate response is “thanks” but I can add a twist to that and say something like “Thanks; you are welcome to admire it and revel in its amazingness for a few moments if you like.”

- Be passionate about whatever you talk about. Passion and emotion are contagious and people are attracted to people with passion. So even if you’re talking about something mundane, talk about it passionately. Do you like chocolate? Don’t just say “I like chocolate, it tastes good,” be like “I fucking love chocolate, it’s my favorite thing on planet earth.” That sounds stupid to say to a guy, but girls are generally more emotional than guys so you can connect with them like this. Also, one of the challenges in talking to girls is that you don’t want to appear like you are being fake just because you want to get in their pants and you also don’t want to seem too interested in them. Being passionate about other things (food, places, your mom) solves this problem. Bonus points if you can be passionate about something she is passionate about.

- Speak more intelligently than you are used to/than the situation calls for/than the person you are talking to deserves. For reasons too complex for this article, our society celebrates and encourages talking stupid and being stupid. A lot of guys are naturally trained to sound like morons when they talk, especially guys from the hood or certain other subcultures (i.e., frat culture). But if a girl is not from your specific culture, she is not going to appreciate you talking like an idiot. Even if she is, it is always better to err on the side of sounding intelligent when you talk rather than vice versa.

- Touch her emotions. Figure out what she gets emotional about, and talk about that. Easy peasy
