Identify what is wrong and write down the weaknesses you can improve on. There is nothing wrong with introspection as long as it's not always negative or constant because it will just leave you worrying. Look back on a night out but don't dwell on it. Most of your introspection should be positive and affirming yourself that you are capable of extraordinary things. Positive thoughts lead to positive actions.

Notice any thought patterns that are constant and make you worry. You will notice you have constant negative thought loops about the same things. Recognize them and even label them in your head as a "constant thought" or "irrational worry." When you think that thought replace it with a positive spin on it. Eventually, your brain will start replacing these thoughts with positive ones subconsciously. Try to concentrate on the present moment.

1000 times this.

It's okay to think about activities, such as exercises, class, volunteering etc that might make your life better (and especially come up with a plan for them), but it's a spiral to place value judgements on your current life.

Main thing is to become more aware of your emotions and how they are unconsciously driving your behavior. For example, AA is basically fear combined with the potential for embarrassment.

agreed, but not WHILE youre out. this introspection is reserved for the after action debriefing

A healthy bit of both.

On one side, if you're feeling down, you should simply embrace it. "I'm not super-confident right now, that's cool though" is one example. It's good to simply be accepting of who you are, and where you're at.

On the flip side, you should also learn to control your emotions in a healthy manner. Maybe by saying "I'm not super-confident right now" will actually make you confident just by being chill.

No need to limit yourself to one method. Try both, you'll be a more well-rounded and resourceful individual. Hell, one could probably make the argument that both methods are actually the same thing.
