I thought some of you might be interested in the messages that got me a date this week.

 

Background
Last year as a freshman this girl lived down the hall from me. We talked maybe 2-3 times and there was some sexual tension - nothing overt. She adds me on Facebook a month ago. This week I messaged her.

Me: How are things outside the world of 6th floor [name of dorm]?
Her: Haha it's pretty great. Haha what about you?
Me: I've had a pretty good year, living the the frat house now. What about you? What have you gotten into these days?
Her: Haha I love at regents west! I've just been studying. Pre med is just getting harder and harder
Me: Ah regents west, my friend lives right next to there. So studying mostly? Anything else?
Her: No not really anything major. Going to Colorado for spring break. What are your plans?
Me: Mexico. You know, I always thought you were super cute, but I've always had a girlfriend. We should hang out sometime.

Her: Oh yeah are you still dating that girl from Dallas?
Me: Nah, that ended last semester
Her: Well I'm sorry to hear that!
Me: Well it's not that bad, I'm just dating all the pretty girls at UT now.
Her: Haha well props to you
Me: Haha, thanks! Which evening are you free this weekend? I recommend Thursday.
Her: Free for what?
Me: Well I'm going to be drinking with friends and you can join me. We could get coffee if you're not into drinking.
Her: well I won't be free till 8 on thursday but coffee on thursday night? or another time?
Me: That sounds good! We'll get coffee Thursday after 8.

Her: So what made you randomly message me last night? Haha
Me: Do I need an excuse to want to hang out with an attractive girl like you?? :) I remember you were enjoyable to talk to last year.
Her: Haha yeah you were fun to talk to also! But I didn't want to like get in the way of you and your girlfriend cause I thought you were attractive yourself haha
Me: Haha, very noble of you. And cute of you to think you could have stirred up trouble. :)
Her: Haha oh trust me, if I want someone I usually get it so I stopped myself from liking you too much :) haha so your welcome

Me: But maybe I'm just strong willed
Her: Haha well I could tell you had some attraction towards me either way haha
