This is my first field report. So I recently took some professional PUA training. I did 23 or so approaches during that training. This FR isn't about that.

This is about last night when I went out to a club/bar to do some approaches. I was advised to do 15 approaches per week from the instructor of the training I took. The goal is to get at least 100 to get de-sensitized to approaching and to nail down body language, delivery, voice projection etc, not necessarily to get a positive result.

Anyways, I found that people were just not friendly for some reason. When I took the training, it was in California. Not sure if that made the difference. The instructor was not standing next to me when I approached so I know that that wasn't a factor.

It just seems that when I approached last night, everyone seemed really not too friendly for some reason? The place I went to last night had a "hipster" vibe (not sure if this is the right term).

Approach 1: Some tall guy and some chick. I walk up and deliver my opener over the shoulder. Its an opinion opener (When would you or when is it ok to do XYZ). Anyways, the guy emphatically goes "NEVER". I think he was just trying to shut me down. I give him a friendly fist bump and tell him I agree with him. Then I repeat the opener to the girl because she evidently didn't hear and get some generic response that I don't even remember.

Approach 2: Some indian guy (standing) and a black girl, apparently his girlfriend (sitting down).

I don't want to put the opener I used here because my friend came up with it recently and he told me not to put it on the internet.

I deliver the opener ("When is it okay to XYZ...") Girl: "When some guy comes up to you and makes a joke about XYZ." Basically she was making fun of me? Anyways, I said "thats ironic but it wasn't a joke". Then she gave her opinion while the guy said nothing. I gave her a fist bump and wished them both a good night and walked away.

Approach 3: This time I wanted to experiment and so I saw this girl sitting down texting. So I walked past her and said "you should smile when you text". She barely registered any kind of response, smile or otherwise.

Approach 4: Two girls sitting at the bar. With a big guy with a beard sitting to their right. Walk past the girl and deliver over the shoulder using the Drunk I-Love-Yous opener. Girl 1: "You're an asshole." Me: "No, it wasn't me." I make up fake story to explain. Girl 1: Some response I don't remember Girl 2 says nothing the whole time. I have to explain the whole thing to the guy because he didn't hear. He says: "I would text her a picture of Han Solo." Me: "Why Han Solo?" Guy: "We're on completely different wavelengths! OMG?! Star Wars?!" Me: "I know about Star Wars" Guy: "The part where Leia says I love you and Han Solo says I know" Me: "Oh." I tell them to have a good night and walk off.

Approach 5: Outside the club, down the street, there are lots of people standing outside a music hall. There are these two girls standing around with their backs turned towards me. I approach tangentially and deliver over the shoulder. Me: (Delivers Drunk I-Love-Yous opener) Girl: (Rudely) "Wow. That's random." Me: (Not knowing what to say). "Well, do they count?" Girl: "No." (or she could have said "yes", doesn't matter).

So I don't know whats going on. When I did my 23 approaches in Cali, they mostly all went better and people seemed more friendly. I think this may have been a "hipster" place and maybe that made a difference. Not sure if I did anything wrong??

The experience made me question what I was doing in the first place and even if the training I had was even teaching anything legit or if it was B.S.

EDIT: Yes, I used a False Time Constraint every time.

TL;DR - First field report. People were not friendly. What did I do wrong? Or was it a just a different audience?
