Southwest Airlines is perfect for opening to higher level HB's. They have a set up that allows you to chose whichever seat you want, so this makes it extremely easy to approach these women, or even have one sit next to you. I was traveling with my younger sister so I let her take the window seat while I sat in the middle. Of course on the plane ride toward my destination an older lady would sit next to me, and on the ride back I would chicken out on an opportunity with an HB9. If it weren't for this sub-reddit I probably would've ridden the entire flights alone with my ipod. I brought two books with me: Lolita, and Carrie. I noticed the older lady sitting next to me was reading a self improvement book and remembered what I learned about "planting seeds". I started with some small talk and it wasn't long before I noticed a girl around 20-23 sitting across the aisle (HB9-10). At first it was just a quick glance but on closer inspection I spotted what book she was reading. It was fucking Lolita. I felt like the luckiest guy in the world. I was so excited as I reached over and tapped her on the shoulder (You guys were right. Girls don't mind as long as you're not some creep and you actually have something to say.) and showed her that we were reading the same book. She laughed out loud and we started talking back and forth about the book (I kept strong eye contact and smiled really big. Everything I did felt really natural). Then I noticed I was talking over the older lady who was trying to read and we both laughed and went back to reading.

To me the next step was crucial. She was too far away to initiate any kino and was in a pretty deep girl-conversation with her neighbor (an older lady as well). I remembered one of my favorite quotes from the book: "So Humbert the Cubus schemed and dreamed--and the red sun of desire and decision (the two things that create a live world) rose higher and higher, while upon a succession of balconies a succession of libertines, sparkling glass in hand, toasted the bliss of past and future nights." I knew she would love it, and it seemed perfect for two unknowing travelers. When their conversation started dying down I passed her a note with the quote written on it. When she saw me hand it to her she laughed a bit and said "Should I open this now or later?" I told her it didn't matter to me. I think she was expecting a different type of letter, she seemed like the type of girl who gets hit on a lot. I waited for a while and she turns to me, calls my name, and says that the quote stuck out to her as well. (This is were the story-telling skill you've been learning about comes in handy) I told her what the quote meant to me, and how I think Humbert Humbert felt about Lo at this point of the story. It turns out that we had a lot more in common and I could tell she was interested. She thanked me for the quote (she kept it, score.)

So the flight landed and I turned on my phone. As we stood up I told her that if she's ever back in (wherewedeparted) that we should meet up again. Lucky for me she tells me that she's moving out to Nicaragua. I tell her that I still wouldn't mind keeping in touch and she tells me that her boyfriend wouldn't like that. And that was that I thanked her and left. Do you think that the boyfriend line could have been handled differently?

On the way back to my original destination I made an immense mistake that I'm still beating myself up for. There was a gorgeous girl sitting alone by a window and I could have chosen to sit anywhere, but instead of sitting next to her I look her in the eyes, we both smile, and I sit in the middle seat behind her row. If I could change one thing about that entire trip it would be to stop being such a bitch about approach. If you take one thing from this FR, take this: Don't ever settle for less. If you see something you want, go get it. Rejection is nothing compared to the feeling of knowing that you could have done something but instead settled for less.
