So I recently got out of college and got a job working for a wine distributor. Occasionally they'll ask me if I want to work a wine tasting, and I've done so every time. There's usually at least some attractive women to flirt with, and I always get a few free bottles of out of the deal.

On Monday my manager asked me if I could work a wine tasting on Wednesday night (last night), but this one was a little different than the others I've worked. It was on a cruise that went through the Chicago River and out on to Lake Michigan around Navy Pier (I'm in Northwest Indiana). It seemed like a really cool opportunity, so of course I agreed. I was going with two other guys from work, and we were all working the wine table.

After the cruise set sail, we worked the table pretty steadily for a little over an hour. The wine table was stationed inside the boat, so after it slowed down we'd each take a break and go up to the deck to enjoy the views and whatnot. So when it was my turn to go up, I figured it'd be a good opportunity to meet some new people. The issue was, I had zero social proof. Outside of the guys from work, I literally knew nobody on the cruise. It was a bunch of big-wigs from the stores that sponsored the cruise, so there also really wasn't too many people in my age range (I'm 23). I figured I shouldn't force the issue, just be cool and if I spark up a conversation with somebody, great. I did a little mingling here and there, especially at the wine table, but nothing serious materialized.

Since one of the guys from work drove and we were allowed to drink, I had been drinking wine basically the whole night. The wine table was running pretty dry, and the cruise only had about a half hour left. Not going to sugar-coat it, I was pretty drunk at this point. I went up to the deck, and the DJ had starting playing more party music (he'd been playing Frank Sinatra and the like all night). I love to dance, so I went out to the dance floor and started doing my thing, having some fun. The photographer for the event was one of the few attractive (HB7.5), younger girls at the party, and she was also out dancing. She cut me a smile a few times, but her female friend wouldn't get away from her long enough for me to dance with her. I basically just kept dancing with other woman, and overall having fun. Her friend eventually sat down, and she made her way over to me. The song was a little slower, so I grabbed her hand and had her do a few spins. We were both having a good time, but the DJ cut the music to make an announcement. Somebody working the event was passing out passes for free games of bowling, so I walked over to her and said "We'', it looks like we're going bowling!" She laughed and introduced herself. We talked a little bit, but then her "friend" came up to us. Turns out it's her mom, and they're in the photography business together. Before she said she was her mom, I asked if they were sisters (on purpose), and her mom was eating it up. The mom eventually backed off, and the guys from work told me we had to go clean up the wine table and get out of there. I really didn't get too much time to talk to her, but I just bantered about being an artist (musician), how I dig photography, etc. I told her I really enjoyed dancing and talking to her, and we should continue it over a drink. She gave me her card with her number on it, we hugged, and me and my boys went down in the boat to clean up the wine table.

When we were down there, my coworkers did the normal "aw shit son you got her number!!" routine. I was drunk, and on top of the world, so I was basically like "aawww yeeah I did!" They were commenting how I was talking to her about photography, and I said something along the lines of "she said she the photographer, so I was like 'psh yeah I'm into photography!'" The minute I said that, she walked into the boat to use the restroom. I'm pretty sure she heard me, but my friend was like "ouch, might have just ruined it for yourself."

So all in all, it went well except for the hiccup at the end. I'm pretty new to game so it felt great to take control and get a number! I was thinking about calling her and inviting her to see my band play this weekend (we're playing on a fundraiser on a beach pavillion), but after that last part do you guys think I still have a chance? Any input is appreciated, thanks seddit!

tl;dr: went on a company funded booze cruise, danced with the photographer and got her number, but she walked in on me and my friends talking about the whole situation. what do?
