Figured I'd type this up because I ran into this unusual situation the other night and wanted to type it up to analyze it myself better, in addition to hopefully getting some feedback.
I went out to meet my friend at a bar late the other night, past midnight after I had just planned on staying in after watching football. He persuaded me by saying he had a couple girls lined up to meet us there, so I figured what the hell.
I met up with him at the bar and shortly after met the girls. They were pretty cute, but for some reason I just really didn't feel like trying to hit on them or anything, I was already pretty tired and just wanted to chill with my boy honestly. We got a few beers and just kinda chilled at the bar all together, mostly me talking to my friend and the girls talking to each other, with the occasional mixed conversation.
At multiple points one of the girls, "A" called me out saying things like "you don't really seem very drunk you look pretty sober" and "are you guys okay, are you on something, what's up?"
Like I said I just wasn't really feeling it so I just told her I drank a lot last night and didn't want to drink a lot again tonight, and that I was fine and just chilling. I ran into another friend who I turned around to talk to for 5-10 minutes before I rejoined the group. I kept making super prolonged eye contact with one of the girls, and she kept trying to start conversations with me, "Skiigga, blah blah blah.." always using my name first which kind of seemed like an IOI to me. I caught her friend who hadn't really paid as much attention to me even ask her behind my back "what's his name again?" which again I kind of assumed meant she was more interested than she was leading on, although I'd pretty much lost attraction for her at this point since she spent half her night taking selfies.
Towards the end of the night I was sitting on a stool next to "A" and making light chat still, and her friend tries to pull her away to go upstairs to go dance. This was particularly interesting to me because "A" gave SUPER hard resistance, with her friend literally trying to pull her off the stool by her arm and "A" refusing to move and saying no.
Right after this the bar was closing up and my friend and I had already made plans to go meet up with someone at their house afterwards, so we said goodbye to the girls and I gave "A" a big hug and said nice to meet you.
Analysis: I think here is where I identified two of my biggest sticking points, leading a conversation and escalating. I could be wrong in assuming she was interested in me, since I didn't close to verify, but she just seemed too eager to talk to me based on the level of effort I was really putting in. I should have tried to escalate, but honestly that is my biggest problem and I wouldn't have even known how to go from aloof guy at the bar to hooking up sitting there. I think I've read people post about the "Passive Attraction" theory before, so I'm just curious on your thoughts.
I'm sure I'll get some flack for not closing or even really trying at all, but sometimes hanging out casually and just doing your own thing can be way more fun or gratifying in my opinion instead of forcing yourself to make your night uncomfortable. Thanks guys.
