Alternate Title: The Three C's: Calibration, Congruence, and Closing.
I had several sets last night, but I want to talk specifically about a HB 9 I spent a good two hours with last night.
Me and my friends were arm wrestling each other, and i just finished winning against a 6' 5" guy (while i am 6'). Just a few friends messing around and having a great time. I spot her (in a sexy red dress) we make eye contact, and then her and her friend walk over. Me and one of my wings start over and begin talking immediately. The HB 9 (red dress) girl is sending very clear IOI's at me.
Immediately I ask her if she has any idea how to swing dance (it was swing dance night at the night club) she says no, but she knows how to belly dance (coy look on her face). I grab her hands and show her a few swing dance moves, her laughing and joking the entire time.
At this point, I excuse myself to grab a drink. I grab myself and my wing a drink, bring it back and say "here you go good looking". I ask them what they were talking about and they said "you". I looked jokingly at my wing and asked "you didnt tell them about the rash, did you?!" We joked around a bit, smiling. HB 9 puts her arm around my waist, i put mine over her shoulder. A few minutes go buy and I can tell her friend isn't getting as much attention (her friend was a bit closed off, never very receptive to my wing) and so i talk to her for a few minutes. Her friend eventually says they're going to go grab a drink. I make finger signs when repeating "grab a drink" and tease them about not coming back. The HB 9 promises me she will.
A few minutes pass and I see them standing over and talking to a couple for a few minutes. I ignore it (not wanting to seem needy) and me and my friends laugh and joke for a while longer.
My friend wanted to buy us a round of shots, so we head over to the bar (passing by HB 9 on the way). Her and her friends walk to the bar (to the side of us) and we're chatting for a bit. My friend orders us bacardi 151 and, while talking to the HB 9 we bring up how me and her had set a challenge to see who would be able to get someone to buy us a drink first. I tell my friend he can't buy her a round, otherwise she'll win. She says "what happens if one of us wins" and I said "this" and went in for a kiss. She pulled back a little bit, so i stopped moving forward for the kiss, and pulled back. She said "eager, arn't we" coyly. I said "I just know what i want i like, and i go for it." all while smiling. She smiles back, but doesnt say anything, and I move a few sets away. (I think i made a HUGE calibration mistake here). He ends up grabbing her a shot of 151 as well, and we all take the shots together.
Me and HB 9 are still kinoing and touching/talking. I tell her to show me a few other dance moves, and while we were dancing she made some sassy comment so i joke-pushed her away. I vaguely remember her saying something about not pushing her away and "respecting her body", but i dont remember exactly what. I said something witty back, and we kept practicing moves.
I then ask if she is spontaneous. She says yes. I grab her hand and take her out to the dance floor. We dance for while, but unfortunately when I dip her once she bumps into somebody else (her head hit someones leg). She says (while smiling) that i need to be more careful and she has to be able to trust me when i dip her. I say "of course", dip her again, she is smiling and laughing, and off we go!
After another song I lead her off of the dance floor, holding her hand, and when we clear the dance floor she mentions she is going to check in on her friends.
I smile, take it in stride, and say "see you later!". I head back to my friends, and hang out with them for a bit. I notice when im dancing with other girls she looks over at me, but when im not with other girls she ignores looking in my direction. I walked past her once and we both made eye contact and did the excited "raise eyebrows and smile when we see each other" thing. I kept walking, though. I meet up with one of my friends, we are chatting, and then my friend walks over to HB 9. Apparently he asked her (without my approval) "How are things going with Thom? If he asked for your number, would you give it?" Apparently she said great, and yes, respectively.
He told me, but i didnt go for the number. I felt like the set had been blown out enough that it wouldn't have been worth while. In my head i was truly perfectly content with the night i had (i had A GREAT TIME) but maybe i fucked up and should have number closed.
My mistakes: I think i left to grab a drink before the set was firmly grounded, and i shouldn't have left the two set with my more-inexperienced wing.
I think the joke when I came back into the group was off. I shouldnt talk about a rash. I'll need to reflect on better ways to re-enter a set or to have joking rapport.
Moving in for the kiss after we had just re-initiated (after her friend had blown out the set because her friend was bored) was terrible calibration on my part.
I have to be more careful with dancing. If i don't show her i can handle her and keep her safe on the dance floor, how can i handle her in the bedroom?
I should have number closed.
In summation:
Calibration, Calibration, Calibration. I made Calibration mistakes with the joke when i joined back up, calibration mistakes in going for the kiss, and calibration mistakes in not asking for her number.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
