Hey guys. I'm kinda new but have been reading a lot and working on approaches. I had a situational set that I want to share.

I had an HB9 sitting next to me in class. She asked me if I had an extra pencil for the quiz. My anxiety got the best of me and I froze up staring at her and saying nothing. She asked me again thankfully which I interpreted as an IOI so I broke out of my anxiety attack and grabbed a pencil and handed it to her with a sly smile. Then I threw a neg in and told her I would let her borrow it this one time only next time she was on her own.

She smiled but then quickly gave me a weird look and asked why the pencil was all wet. Turns out it was my hand sweat from being so nervous. I played it off and was thinking "man I'm def going to f-close this hb9. Can't wait to write the field report" but instead of thinking it I said it out loud while staring at her. She said "what the fuck are you talking about" and I freaked out and negged her. She said "here take your sweaty pencil back" then got up and moved to the other side of the room.

I reflected on it after class and realized that I did pretty well but my big mistake was the second neg. If I threw in an AOTP at that point I definitely would have had at least a number close.

Any advice is welcome. Keep opening guys!!!
