FR: I met this really cute girl at work. I just started 3 months ago and we just started off as friends. She's awesome and we find music and craft beer as common ground. I'm not going to lie but I got pretty infatuated with her(too emotionally invested; a big mistake according to models). But I tried my best not to give her too much attention. She always teases me about how I try to steal upper management's style with my suits(since I wear a suit everyday to work; upgraded the wardrobe thanks to mark manson; still a work in progress). I could feel her looking at me when I'm laughing it up with my other female friend at lunch and later she insists on me telling her what was so funny. Here was where my fatal mistake was. I get her alone and walk around the parking lot and she looks me dead in the eye and says "why are you afraid to take risks? Smell the flowers some time." I freeze. I say some bullshit about how I'm not afraid of anything. That same night we go out for drinks with some friends from work and she bumps up behind me and says "uh oh now this guy thinks I'm trying to grab his ass. Hahaha." I couldn't come up with something clever and just said yeah that's exactly what you're doing. Later I tease her about her laugh and she says "you know you love hearing my laugh." In turn I casually take her glass and drink her beer while talking to my friend directly in front of me. A week later at lunch another female coworker asks me if I had a girlfriend and I say no. Cute girl says with a sort of fake surprise "what??? You don't?" A strange comment since I'm sure she knew I was single. I make a joke about why my previous girlfriend broke up with me and she says "oh that sucks. She didn't appreciate you." Now at this point I'm like wtf. Several more days of similar banter and me being a bitch and not asking her out go by. I've read on seddit that attraction has an expiration date. Models also states that if a girl really likes you she'll put with your bonehead moves and say "he chickened out this time but he'll ask me our tomorrow." Finally, after ALOT of anxiety approach I go to her desk and say "hey do you wanna go out sometime?" I'm a wreck at this point and she quickly says "we can't. Didn't I tell you I'm occupied/engrossed/or some fucking word that she used to say it's complicated with her ex?" I said "no you didn't." Again with her surprised look "i told you when we were talking with (female friend)." She didn't but female friend did mention to me in private she was single and why she officially broke up with that guy(some fucked up shit that dude does).

Was she just toying with me all along or did I miss my opportunity? Or is this all in my head and I never had a shot? Some feedback would be great. Thanks for letting me vent, seddit.
