Preface: I am fairly new to meeting women (no experience in high school) and I am a freshman in college so in this FR I'll try to outline what I know worked for me, and some of the areas that I feel I could have done better.

Today was the 3rd day of classes at my university. I am in a very big school (upwards of 45,000 students) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that one of my classes only has about 10 people in it. The first day of this class was Monday, and I had it again today. As I entered the lobby of the building I held the door open for a very cute girl who I recognized from my class. Being a silly Freshman I got lost on the way to class, but this girl was following me about 10 paces back since she was a Freshman too and presumably lost as well.

Cut to class: Classroom is empty, we are 15 min early, so she sits down and I plonk myself right next to her in the empty room. Commence introductions and soft banter I find out where she's from, information about her interests etc. Start to feel a real connection in those first 15 minutes but there was no escalation at that point, just pleasantries. People start to fill up the room and the class starts. I drop the "did you study for the quiz" line and get a playful punch on the arm when she finds out I'm joking. I tease her about mooching off the professor's handouts and not buying the book yet. Eye contact game was really strong.

End of class: Everyone packs up their things and I wait for the girl before walking out of the classroom. Its about lunch time. We then get lost trying to leave the building. By this time I know her dorm is on the other end of the campus from my dorm. We are standing out front of the building and I begin to say "hey do you wanna exchange numbers to be study buddies or something?" but she cuts me off before I say the word "exchange" and says "sure, where do you wanna go?" Score. I suggest a place near my dorm sarcastically commentating on its exquisite college cafeteria food. We then walk about 10 minutes through campus. It begins to drizzle slightly and she wants to put on a rain jacket. She asks if I can hold her bookbag cause she doesn't want to get it wet by putting it on the ground. (clearly it wasn't going to be a problem to set it on the ground for 15 secs). I say sure and proceed to place it on the ground next to mine. "Oh my god! you're so mean!" she says with a smile. I say yeah, well at least I'm not a stalker. She says "huh?" and I say "don't you think for a second I didn't see you stalking me before class." Big laugh with this one and she says "fair enough, I guess we're even".

Lunch: We grab food, do some more banter and have fun. No oppertunity to touch any more since e're across the table from each other, but I steal some of her food, brushing hands, and I finished her coffee since she didn't like it (it wasn't that bad). I forget exactly what was said but at one point during the meal we had really intense eye contact over something vaguely sexual I said. I'm talking like 10 solid seconds of silence and smirking before she looked away and said some funny innuendo in response.

Lunch Pt. II: We clear our food and have about 30 min til our separate classes start. Its at this point that I think she'll want to leave and get her stuff for class. so I get her number. Real simple. Contact page open, hand the phone to her, say " hey, put your number in my phone. We're gonna hang out again." Surprisingly she doesn't leave and seems to be waiting for me to act. I say "hey, I wanna show you something." She says "what?" I say "you'll see" and I bring her to the boathouse next to my dorm. I'm a rower and this way I show her something about me (finally). Then, its about 15 min to class and I need to grab my books. I walk to the outside of my dorm building. I say "this is my building" and begin to start saying goodbye, but surprise again, she turns with me to enter.

Not sure what to call this section lol: My room is a mess and I was kicking myself as I walked with her up all the flights of stairs to my room. Basically I grabbed my books and everything I needed in about 15 seconds flat. I guess its probably pretty unusual for a singular girl to follow a singular guy to his dorm room without some sort of romantic thought, and I probably could have made something out of that but I am just a dumb Freshman and I had an important class starting in 5 minutes at that point so nothing happened. We walked our separate ways to class and I gave a playful hip check on my way out.

Reflections and questions: I should have physically escalated more. Punches and hip checks and stealing food are things brothers and sisters do, not boyfriends and girlfriends. I could have tried to hold her hand or give her a hug or something at some point. The only point where I got butterflies from sexual tension was during the eye-contact. I also should have remembered to clean my room. Won't make that mistake again (sorry mom). I also shouldn't have assumed she would want to leave; Its probably an insecurity on my part. I think I did well on the conversation front with lots of banter and teasing mixed in with real threads about personal stuff. At least 2 times I also mentioned "us" doing things in the future. Example: When she told me about where she likes to eat I said something like "cool! you're taking me there!"

1). What should I have done to escalate the interaction?

2). Was it a big mistake on my part to rush her out of my room? Even though it was messy? Even though I had an important class in 5 minutes?

3). How do I continue the interaction now that I have her number and snapchat and will see her in class tomorrow?

4). Did I fuck it up too badly by not ramping up the interaction? Or could I salvage it?

5). Did I not make my intentions clear enough? Was it even a date?
