The last couple of times I've been to the grocery store I've noticed this super cute girl who works at the coffee kiosk they have in there, and really wanted to introduce myself to her, but I'm usually very quiet and shy and don't really consider myself to have "game". Today I said to hell with that and did it anyway.
Before she could ask me for my order I said "Hi how's it going" and she said she was "great, thanks!" I ordered a plain coffee, and really wanted to talk to her about something besides my order but then a couple people came up in line behind me, so I tipped her, waited for my coffee and let her take care of the other customers. Basically by this point I've lost all confidence in myself, and take my coffee and walk away. Then I realize I didn't have any sugar in it (forgive me, coffee purists) and go to the little sugar/condiment/stuff stand that's next to the counter, and realize there's no sugar in the shaker, so I let her know and she comes around to fill it up, and while she's doing that, my heart starts pounding and I decide to make my move.
"Forgive me if I'm being too forward here, but I'm going to kick myself all night if I don't ask you for your number". I actually did it! She seemed to be embarrassed to respond with "I actually uh play for the other team", then she followed up with "but that's very flattering thank you!" Bummer, game over. I'm going to take it that she was being for real and not just turning me down, as I imagine if she wanted to do that nicely she would've went with 'I have a boyfriend' or similar. But I'm okay with this, because now I feel a lot more confident in my ability to approach women.
Just thought I'd share.
