So if you click through to my history, you'll see that I'm brand new to this! I'm a smart, funny, extremely confident guy (seriously - I've been a professional comedian for a few years. Not stand-up, but I'm known for being on top of things and fearless) who is new to pick-up, and trying to learn by going out there.

Went out last night with my brother as my wingman. (he's even less experienced than me, but was mainly there to keep me company)

Started the night by going into a bar and opening two girls with a "Hey, can you settle an argument?" bit. They shut us down and then turned their back, and that threw me a bit. I spent the next half-hour or so just standing on the dance floor, slightly dancing, just trying to get more comfortable in an unfamiliar environment (I'm not much for loud music and lots of people.)

After a while, we moved onto another bar (which had way more girls our age) - I wandered for about 20 minutes, AAing like a mofo, until finally my wingman told me that we weren't leaving until I'd opened three girls.

Standing by the bar, a chick came up to me and started chatting. As soon as someone is talking to me I'm fine, it's just getting into the initial conversation that I can't do. She was extremely touchy-feely (which I managed to reciprocate pretty naturally. Didn't escalate though) and probably quite drunk. we talked for about 10 minutes before she introduced me to some of the girls she was with and then disappeared.

One girl was leaving for England - it was her big "going away". Another was (coincidentally) the housemate of my housemate's boyfriend - her and my wingman seemed to hit it off, so I left them and went to find touchy-feely girl. She was chatting to another guy, and so I chickened out and just watched the people dancing for the next half-hour or so.

It was getting pretty late, so my wingman went to get the car. While he was gone, I decided to ask five girls for kisses. I didn't, but that spurred me on to opening a foreign girl (and then chatted to her for a bit before her boyfriend came back and I ejected) and a girl who was out for her birthday (who I left when my wing came back with the car.)

I know I'm pussing out a lot, but I'm already feeling tons better about getting out there next time. At this stage, I'm just getting comfortable being out in bars and chatting to girls at ALL, and the whole mentality of "I'm going to ask them for a kiss" is getting me talking to people - when I bail on asking them for the kiss, at least I'm still in the conversation, whereas when I bail with approaching at all, I'm nowhere.

My big problem at the moment is that I'm worried about looking like a creep. I'm going to start opening mixed sets by talking to the guys - once I'm in a conversation I'm fine, and talking to the guys first will make me feel less creepy. I also need to find a quieter bar or three - the places I'm going to at the moment are so loud that I can barely hear anyone talk.
