So this past weekend I decided to go out alone, it's not something that I do constantly but I decided to take a chance. I'll admit when going out alone I'm more anxious than usual. Anyway here are my sets:
1) Girl alone at table: I opened her but I wasn't loud enough because she couldn't hear me. The music was loud so I had to be louder than usual however this threw me off at first because of her initial reaction. I tried once again opening louder asking her what was she drinking, she answered something and went back to her phone. It was a weak opener but I got it out of the way. I could've continued the conversation but her initial reaction made me feel more anxious and it was my first conversation of the night. At least I got started and did something.
2) 2 girls at table: Opened one of the girls and started chatting about how they knew each other. Because they weren't really close together I couldn't talk to both of them. This affected me as I noticed the girl I was talking to wasn't really focusing on the interaction with me as she was also looking at her friend. Again this kinds threw me off. In hindsight I should've done something to get the other girl in on the interaction. I continued asking random questions but I felt like I was interrupting them even though she never said anything. After a while I left.
3) two girls outside walking towards me: Opened one of them but she ignored me, the other girl talked to me for a while but I wasn't assertive enough and she quickly rushed back to her friend. I laughed it off and was feeling a bit better.
I had smaller sets after this but they weren't anything noteworthy. One thing I should've done was talk to random people on my way to the club, like the girl at the front door or the bouncer. Even if it was small talk, it could've helped me out more easing my way towards talking and not being completely nervous.
Another lesson I got from this was to take reactions less personally. As soon as I saw girls giving me weird looks in a set I thought there was something wrong and it throws me off. I'm aware that cold opens can be weird at first but I need to learn to power through and not take those initial reactions personally.
TLDR: solo game 3 sets all of them cut short because I took their initial reactions too personally.
