I think there are pros and cons to getting to know/talking to someone new through text. It's easier because it's not face to face, and the conversation can continue throughout the day or night. The basic likes/dislikes can be discussed, such as favorite movie, color, food etc. That's fine and dandy and it can lead to interesting discussions for a possible date. Conversely, letting your inhibitions down and being more seductive/ flirtatious through text can really make things awkward when talking face to face. Do I bring up the fact that I told him his hair is luscious and I want to run my fingers through it? Having said that to a guy recently through text, it was super awkward the next day when I saw him in person. Overall, I wouldn't say anything through text that I wouldn't say in person.
