Someone said you should always write a field report and that you should write one ASAP. Well here's mine.

A friend of mine had a pre-party ( more of a get-together) with 5 guys and one girlfriend. I pumped myself up prior and dressed in a way that I felt like I looked good. The party was fun. I was at 11 when we left and hit the clubs. Now mind that I live in a small town so you can't really go up to everyone. I know someone who did. He is known as the guy who went up to everyone. Try living that down in a small town.

Anyways when we got to the main street I was hyped. We went to the bar. I felt nervous and decided to orient myself. Thankfully I know some of the bartenders so I went to one of them for a chat. Afterwards I chickened out on hitting on anyone and left the bar with my friends.

At the next one I had much more luck. I saw a pretty, short, glasses girl. I went to her and she responded positively, but I didn't want to seem clingy so grabbed onto someone I know for distance. I noted who she was with and later u approached her male friend and made friends with him. We hit it off and when she eventually showed up the guy elevated me pretty far in her eyes. Then she took me to the bar where I could get some more points by knowing the bartender. Then it was back to the dance floor. I maintained our space so people wouldn't be bumping into us and made sure to touch her as well as grabbing a hold of her to dance together from time to time. She started grabbing a hold of me so I grabbed her head and made out with her. That happened a bit and then she started being what we call a butterfly. She started going everywhere in the club. Now I have bad experience with this. I've lost a girl, lost her to someone else and had her permanently lose interest from this. So I follow her. We dance with some of her friends and wander around. At this point I get her and her male friends FB. Things blur a bit but the girl disappears and I lose her. I see her outside, but she's gotten far enough away (and is heading home with her friend) that I'd have to run after them a bit and I thought that would come off as desperate so I didn't. I had her FB and reasoned that that was enough for now. I check my phone and my friends are close (there's always constant splitting and reforming going on) so I meet up with them at an eatery and get them to rush the taxi line as it's 15 minutes to everything closing and you can expect a 40 minute wait for a taxi after that. After I get home I notice a random opening message from the girl. Thankfully I've been active on Tinder recently and I've gotten pretty proud of my text banter. We go back and forth continuously for an hour and then I ask her out for coffee tomorrow saying I would contact her the next day about specifics.

OK lessons learned: * It's all about the friends! She was interested before, but I got in through her guy friend. Conversely I probably lost her by not dealing with her female friend. A larger problem there is I tend to avoid the ugly girls so they won't glue to me and drag me down. This means I might ignore someone in a group.

  • dancing works fantastic for escalation. Don't care about what you're doing and make a lot of contact. Don't try to talk. Try to talk when you want to take her away.

  • I need to find some way of combining state and strategy. Either I'm thinking and then I'm thinking too much, or I'm in state and I'm going on instinct and what I've learned to my core.

  • I should have talked about an afterparty to get her back to my place. Hell, it would have been easy to grab some of my friends and bring them as well. Also. I need to start making my apartment immaculate when I'm going out.

  • I need to work better when the person knows me. One girl knew my parents and brother pretty well and that totally threw me off and I completely failed to keep the conversation going.
