I've been at this for more than a year now, but I feel like I haven't made any progress.

Last night I was at a club with a couple of buddies of mine where they mainly play 80's music. I had already had a few drinks at this point, so I was beyond tipsy. We were there quite early (in club hours at least) so dance floor was a bit desolate, but it was a small dance floor so it wouldn't take much to get it crowded.

I am 23 years old for reference.

Sitting at our table, I had a clear line of sight to the bar where I noticed this lady super hot older lady (mid-late 40s probably) who was clearly there with a guy friend of hers/date, he was sitting next to her so from my point of view he was behind her, don't think he could see me. She kept smiling at me, at first I thought it was just coincidence, but every time I looked up to her she would smiling right at me, so I smiled back and waved at her. I know, the waving was a bit too much but that was just to show how drunk I was.

Anyway, I didn't actually interact with her, so that's it for her part for the story.

Later, my two friends and I were on the dance floor busting out our moves and this woman that looked to be in her early 30s (later found out she was actually 42) danced up to me and brushed my hair to the side, I am growing out my hair so it is around nose-length and the dancing made it cover half my face. I didn't really react cause I've never had someone just walk up and do that to me, she then went back to her group of friends afterwards. I "ran into her" a few more times during the night and every time she would do the same thing, was that some sort of invitation?

Later while out for some fresh air, I struck up a conversation with this other lady, who turned out to be a bestie of hair-brusher, she told me that it was her friend's birthday today and how old she was (42 as mentioned above), I then tried to steer the conversation more towards a you-and-me area and she mentioned how she knows I'm 100% gay, according to my friend. Which friend? No idea. I hadn't noticed her talking to any of my friends but I wasn't really focusing on them anyway, but one of my friends is gay so maybe he was telling her that he was gay and she misinterpreted it for me being gay? But when I asked him about it later he said he hadn't talked to her at all.
Anyway, when she said that I remember just blankly answering something about how I'm not gay, and then the conversation steered to which one of our asses is better, which seems like the sort of thing you'd talk about to your gay BFF if you're a girl. She then asked my how old I was, told her, and she visibly held back a reaction of surprise, her friend the hair-brusher then joined us and she whispered in her ear how I old I am, they then both went back inside.

I didn't try to join up with them again inside, just did my thing dancing in the crowd, about three feet away from me, I noticed this HB7 that was visibly in my age range. We locked eyes, she smiled at me super hard, and I stayed put. She was dancing with her group of friends but was a bit distanced, so I could've totally approached her and separate her from them a bit, but I didn't. This went on for like 10 minutes, every time I would look at her, she would look back and keep smiling at me. Missed opportunity.

Putting the blame on AA is starting to seem more and more like a coward's-way-out type of excuse to me, since every time I go out, something like this happens, someone shows interest, but I don't even make a small attempt to follow through.

Anyway, I'm going out tonight again for NYE, so hopefully I'll have the balls to make the night go differently.
