My buddy turned 21 last Tuesday. He wasn't able to go out because of work and "life," although I would've went out on a Tuesday night anyways. Last night I try to get a couple of other friends to come out, but they were tired and just being lame. One guy had a "guild" commitment in his MMO. We planned on going to a dive and just chill, but since it was just me and my birthday buddy I said fuck it and we dressed up and went to a pretty swanky lounge. Just wanted to celebrate my friend's birthday, didn't even have Game on my mind.

We show up at the place and we're the best dressed people there. I was kind of disappointed since this was a "classy" place, but whatever. Ordered some drinks and sat in the "catbird" seat as Ross Jeffries like to call it that overlooked the entrance and the entire place. Everybody that walked in would notice us right away. A 3 set walked in, ranging from 6-8. The asian one gave me a pretty obvious eye contact IOI.

When they ordered their drinks I walked up to the least attractive girl in the set and used the standard "Hey guys, can I get your opinion?" jealous girlfriend routine. I know some guys don't like routine indirect openers, but I personally I find this routine to be a good litmus test for fun personalities when opening a group. Asian girl lit up at the opener and started giving her opinion. But I kind of ignored her and cut her off and asked the HB6 what she thought.

After some banter, during which I kept ignoring the asian girl, I said I'm getting back to my friend and left the set on a high energy note. By complete coincidence a couple of friends who where getting married the next day walked in. The place immediately lit up, since my social circle just expanded and we were the youngest and liveliest crowd there. Opened a 2 set a from my friend's group. Jealous girlfriend again. I had had only one drink but I dropped my wine glass when I was talking to them. I wasn't drunk or anything but just a complete butterfinger incident. They looked at each other like "This guy is drunk" smirk but I calmly picked up the two pieces (luck it was a rug floor) and placed it on the table and just continued the conversation like nothing happened. Left the set on a good note.

Walked up the asian girl and asked her "why she was ignoring me." She laughed and said I was ignoring her. Without replying I took her hand and brought it up to my face like I was going to kiss it then asked her about her heart shaped ring she was wearing. She definitely got a reaction out of this kino and showed me her earrings, also heart shaped to match. I lightly touched her neck and tilted her head to the side "to inspect the earring" and told her that they don't look like they were part of a set. Had a conversation about fashion and she was glad that our group was so well dressed. So dressing up definitely helped with the initial impression. I told her I had to go and that I know the nationally ranked bartender that works at bar x. He does a thing on saturdays where he makes up a drink for you on the spot based on a personality read. She said that sounds really cool. Told her she's welcome to tag along and just handed her my phone and said "put your digits in." Got the # and exited, didn't really want to leave since a lot of my friends were there but felt like if I stayed around the energy level with asian would've dropped.

tl;dr Dress well, makes a difference. Take risky kino moves. Keep energy level high.
