I tend to get very jittery nerves before dates.

This isn't precisely approach anxiety, as there is no sense of dread, and I am not approaching a new girl. Rather, I get really hyped up in my head, I feel that thoughts and external stimuli are coming in too fast, and my behavior becomes less focused. I experience a similar feeling before competing in athletics as well.

My goal here is not as much to suppress this excess energy, calm the nerves, or to "chill out" per se, but to focus what actually feels like a heightened state of mind, and to build off of the rush. If this sounds familiar to what anyone else experiences (doubtless it does, as these are just the symptoms of adrenaline, though whether others react the same way or in the same situations remains to be seen), I would love to know what you do to get in a focused state.

TL;DR: Adrenaline gets me very jittery and distractable. What do you do to focus, not necessarily calm, your nerves when you get a rush?
