I’d like to start off firstly by saying thank you to this great community that has helped me so much and has given me new confidence I don’t think I could’ve found anywhere else. I had a great time tonight even though I didn’t end up closing any of the sets but I was a little disappointed I couldn’t close (advice and constructive criticism more than welcome). Age 22 for anyone who cares for that reference.

I arrived 50 min late to a small concert that was supposed to start at 9. Walked in and opened up a 2-set as soon as I bought my first drink. I used a situational opener (no AA) by stating that I thought they would at least have someone on stage by now. Both responded really well and told me they actually went to the same college as the main act. We talked about how he started off local at their school and how cool it was that he was going on tour now and playing in the Bay Area. However, I couldn’t get passed small talk so I ended it with “Have a great night” and moved on.

Second set was a 2-set as well but with a lot more attractive ladies, HB7 and HB9. I sat at a stool next to the HB7 and chilled out for a bit before eventually using the same opener as before. They responded well and told me they had showed up way early to the empty venue so they ended up going to a bar before coming back. This set felt a lot more natural and fun. They both had work early the next day so I teased them about how they were probably passed their bedtimes to which they agreed. I then told them they were being bad for staying up late and that the HB9’s leather jacket further qualified her as a “badgirl”. Then I said she probably has a tattoo. She actually lifted up her leg and put her foot on my lap. I lifted up the bottom of her jeans to reveal a small tattoo on her ankle. Told her it was cute and she probably had her favorite lyrics tattooed on her ribs too. She laughed and denied this but asked about mine. I told them I had a tramp stamp to which they couldn’t believe. I said “lift up my shirt and check it out”, I turned, they lifted up the back of my shirt and then I laughed and said, “just wanted to make you take my clothes off”. The convo eventually got slower and HB9 ended up showing me her wedding ring to which I got intimidated by. I left to get another beer and when I came back the set was cold and I couldn’t find a way back in. No number close :/…

Lastly, was another 2-set with HB8 and HB7(aka cockblock mcgahee). While getting my last drink, I asked what the concoction was that the bartender was making for the both of them. They told me and I said it sounded super girly but at least she knew what she was ordering. I said the girl I took out last week told the bartender she wanted something “sugary but strong”. We both said that that is no way to order at a bar. Left that set but saw her again when she started talking to these other girls I was talking to on the dance floor. I gave her some shit for being a bad influence because she was giving her drink out to a girl who wasn’t 21. She seemed impressed by my reciting of the lyrics (she didn’t know any of the performer’s songs but was only tagging along with friends) and I got her to sing the chorus with me. She was smiling and looked liked she was having a great time. I bummed a cigarette from her friend as we were walking out but ran back into the crowd as soon as he was performing his best song. I saw the friend I bummed the cigarette from outside after the show and wanted to thank her so I called her over. We talked for a minute before HB8 came over and exclaimed, “Hey! It’s my buddy!” to me. I told her she was actually my new girlfriend and she agreed that I was her new boyfriend. I had my arm around her waist when cockblock mcgahee decided she needed to do the thing she was born to do. I couldn’t overcome the negative vibe and bailed without a number or K-close. I would love any feedback, especially advice on dealing with a cockblock friend when you’re out sarging solo. Thanks, guys
