A nice rule of thumb is: don't text to avoid calling.

You get to convey so much more in a call. You can have a presence. It's also not there in permanent record form.

However, some girls will respond to texts who don't respond to calls. If a girl doesn't answer, I'll typically shoot a text like, "Hey tried calling but didn't get you. I was going to let you know about [cool activity I'm doing soon]. You should come."

Look for events in the area that would be conducive to first dates. Not movies or a play... somewhere you can interact in public. Festivals... Bar shows (make sure she likes that kind of music)... Outdoor music (ditto)... Art openings... Sporting event... etc. Try to cater to what you know about her. For example, I met a girl who likes spicy foods... and I've suggested we go on an adventure searching for the spiciest foods in the city. She's excited about it. Be creative. Maybe meet at a bar. After a drink or two you will be relaxed enough to be yourself.

Just a suggestion, but I'd try to move away from texting as much as possible. Try to keep interactions face to face, or curt. This is mostly an idea filtered and simplified from Bang by Roosh.
