When I'm doing daygame I usually use canned openers such as "I thought you looked cute so I had to come say hi " or "I thought you looked really nice so I had to come say hi". While these aren't bad, they are very boring and don't really capture the girl's attention (probably because they hear it all the time). I also live in NYC so girls who hear those openers are even less likely to respond to them because they are always going somewhere (you'll rarely see a hot girl in NYC just standing for guys to hit on her). So recently I have been tagging on compliments with my opener. Eg: "Excuse me, I saw and I thought you looked really cute in your puffy black hat, so I had to come say hello." These openers are a step above the regular canned openers. However, I have found that there is no better opener than when you see a girl and you are truly in the moment when you open her and the girl can feel that, like you opened her with something very genuine. It's kind of hard to explain but I'm sure you can relate.

So do you guys have any tips as to how I can get better at making those genuine openers?

Second thing that I wanted to mention is how do you create assumptions that will get the girl engaged? I find myself making assumptions about the girl but if she isn't responsive or she gives a one word response then I freeze. What do I say after that point to get her engaged.
