If you have to look away look upwards not down. I’d say it’s perfectly natural. I talked to a youth pastor once that maintained constant eye contact. Creepiest dude I’ve ever met.

In the TV show"The Americans", the KGB train a female agent to lie to the CIA interrogator by looking him in the eye. The female agent says she can't maintain eye contact as she has trouble lying to someone when looking into their eyes, so the KGB tell her "you don't have to look into their eyes. Just stare at the bridge of their nose, they'll never know the difference". This was followed on by how to beat a lie detector by clenching your butthole, but that's off topic.

Yes it's a known fact that eye contact during conversations is hard and has to be built as a habit through practice. For now, try looking at the eyebrows.

Failing to maintain eye contact is s turn off for girls I would struggle to look to a girl directly in the eyes & I would get distracted sometimes

That's fine. It is natural but don't look away just because you are starting to get nervous/uncomfortable/awkward.
