Last night I had a third date with a girl I’ve been seeing — I went to her apartment and we cooked dinner together. After dinner, she asked if I wanted to watch a movie and we snuggled up on the couch with some beer. She started playing a crime movie (about murder and rape) which, uh… did not set the mood....

we snuggled and kissed a little, and I was touching and rubbing her hips. When I tried to hold her hand, I got nothing. She snuggled up even closer after some time, and I started kissing her neck but she was very ticklish. She seemed into the movie and not so much into kissing or esclating, and was yawning and clearly tired, as it was getting late. After the movie, we had a proper make out for a little while but she subtly shut down any further esclation that I was trying.

Overall, I had a lot of fun but I just don’t know what to make of it. I haven’t slept with her, but each date has involved more physical escalation (light kino first date, kiss second date, making out and light petting third date) so that seems like a good thing. The vibe of the movie we were watching was not at all conducive to having sex, I felt. She also didn’t seem like she was up for having sex, but like I said we cuddled and made out and it felt very “relationshipy”. So I guess my question is, could I have done anything differently? Or was she just not ready to have sex yet, which I can understand. Like I said, was prepared for but not expecting sex, and I did have a really nice time with her and things felt “right” in the sense that we were clearly comfortable with each other and enjoying each other’s company and touch. She seems like a slow mover, but just wondering what I could have done differently, if anything, or what I should be aware of the next time we see each other.
