I have been living in my current city for about 6 months, but just recently decided I was tired of complaining about how hard it was to meet people and do something about it. I've been going out alone for about a month now, and I've met some people who are really cool, but I keep running into the same problem. I can start a conversation with someone pretty easily by just introducing myself, but after that, I don't know what to do. I can often make conversation happen if I'm talking to guys as I can just bs about basketball or hunting or whatever, and the convo flows pretty easily, but with women I almost always find the convo falling flat pretty quickly. I have had a few interactions where the girl I was talking to seemed initially receptive, but then went cold. I have read about banter, but whenever I've tried to banter it feels forced and awkward as hell (saying stupid shit like, you are pretty cute, it's too bad I don't date bad girls has not worked at all for me). Basically I need help figuring out how to get a good conversation going with the women I talk to.
