How is it like to do cold approach during the day?
Most guys have never tried (or tried it for very short amount with little to no results) while most online videos are made to grab attention and only show the most extravagant interactions.
As a result there is a huge discrepancy between most guy’s expectations of cold approach and reality.
Today I wanted to document one of my recent sessions, so anyone can have an honest view of what it’s like to do this for real.
I did this in the text format for Reddit but I will attach a link down below if you want to see the video version.
Let’s go.
Beginning
First of all, I was actually a bit sick, so I had a very ‘good excuse’ to stay home.
This is the first thing you need to deal with - constant excuses why you shouldn’t come out.
Usually they are the most convincing ones at the beginning of your journey.
Warm up
As I always advocate, it’s good to warm up before you start approaching. I do 1 warm up approach and ask where a metro station is and she tells me.
I already feel pretty good, but depending on your level you might need more warm up sets.
Approach #1
I do my first official approach of the day - and get completely ignored.
At this point a lot of guys would freak and think they are doing something ‘really weird’.
I just tell myself - ‘this is completely normal’ and keep going.
Approach #2
I approach a girl as she’s walking down a street next to a shop - she gives me a brief look and then walks past me.
Tough start.
But hey, that’s the thing. It’s only a start. Let’s keep on going.
Approach #3
I approach next to a busy street with cars on a not very wide pedestrian spot - not the ideal place but you have to work with what you have.
She stops and we talk for a few minutes, the interaction is going decently and I go for a number but she tells me she has a boyfriend.
Approach #4
I approach a very cute girl dressed in black next to a Nike store.
We hit it off very well and there is already quite a lot of chemistry and sexual tension.
I tone it down a bit, so we can get to know each other on a personal level.
It’s going extremely well and I’m thinking to myself - this is definitely a date.
And then..
“You know what, I am really enjoying this but I do have to tell you that I have a boyfriend, I’m sorry”
F*ck!!
This one hurt a bit since I really liked the girl, I am not going to lie.
But it doesn’t matter, I viewed it as something positive and keep going.
Most guys, especially beginners, get too outcome oriented so if the interaction doesn’t end in a number - they get disappointed.
That affects their state, and they carry this to their next interaction which goes even worse and then they become frustrated and quit.
And while my immediate reaction was disappointment too, I quickly reframe this and actually see the interaction as something positive - I talked to a very cute girl, we clearly both liked each other and we shared a cool connection for 10 minutes.
Approach #5
I approach a nice Portuguese girl with a backpack.
It’s going a bit slow in the beginning but then I manage to break the ice and she crosses her legs - good sign. She’s here to stay.
We flirt and talk, I go for the number - another boyfriend.
When a girl tells you they have a boyfriend - you have to be honest with yourself if it’s a real objection or smokescreen.
A lot of females have told me that they give “I have a boyfriend” line as polite rejection.
If the interaction is weak - it might be a lie.
If it’s a good conversation that lasts 8+ minutes (and once you have done a lot of approaches you will be able to tell if it’s good) - then it’s most likely a true one.
For me, on approach #3 it was probably BS, but approach #4 and #5 seemed pretty genuine because we talked for a while and they were both hooked and interested.
That being said - don’t overanalyze it and just keep going.
Approach #6
I go in for quite a difficult approach before a traffic stop.
The girl responds well and we start flirting quite fast.
She’s actually heading to work, so I use my time effectively to ground the interaction and not run out of time.
This time I get the number without any problems and we agree to meet another time.
A lot of guys get hesitant to approach in ‘more difficult’ spots like traffic stops but often the difficult approaches end up being the most rewarding ones.
Approach #7
I approach a girl that looks like an incognito spy.
Yes, I used that line to open ;)
She’s engaging and it turns into another positive convo and I get her contact details.
Approach #8
I see two beautiful girls in running outfits, and I especially like the tall one.
I go in, and compliment both but quickly narrow in on the girl I like.
The girls are from France and ironically the girl I like has almost no English, so I get the other one to translate what I am saying to her friend.
The set is going very well, and I am enjoying the conversation a lot.
We speak for quite a bit, and I go for the number but it turns out she has a boyfriend back in France.
Again, most guys are hesitant to approach groups but these often turn into most rewarding conversations
Conclusion
8 approaches, 6 interactions (5 min+), 2 numbers
I did all of this in under 90 minutes.
Couple of notes:
- The session started rough and a lot of guys would use that as an excuse to quit. Learn to keep pushing and not take rejections personally.
- Don’t be overly outcome oriented and instead focus on just having solid interactions. You cannot control her reaction or logistics (like if she has a boyfriend) but you can control your vibe and flirting.
- Appreciate the connections you make along the way even if they don’t result in a number or a date.
- In 90 minutes I got 2 decent numbers, imagine if you do this every day. This stuff compounds. Not only you build a lot of abundance, you start to enjoy the process. At this point I go out more for the actually process of it rather than getting a specific result and ironically results come easier.
