Being a nerd is awesome. I'm a dating coach, and I still do all the nerdy stuff I love. I just do them with beautiful women now. There are plenty of beautiful women who like all the same nerdy stuff as us. As long as you communicate that you are a well-rounded person who also sees the beauty in connection, romance, and being a confident life-loving person, the sky is the limit.

You might want to gauge the temperature for this girl you like first. See how she responded to your conversation first. Does she light up? You can of course go ahead and ask her out, but if she is already embedded in a fair amount of social circles she might not be inclined to date someone who is outside of her circles. It might be better off to see if you can invite her to a more low-pressure situation, like a school event or something.

If you think you've got a shot, then see it as an experiment, and go for it. You will only win by growing and gaining experience no matter what.

make a list of all the shit nerds don't tend to do then do them all. One thing I've learned from improv so far is you're not going to magically be able to not be yourself.

Go watch a movie at the theater and find one that is about to start then recite the brave heart speech to everyone there then leave.
