YOU LISTEN. Conversation is not a series of memorized sentences you spit out in sequence, its not an interrogation. Its an interaction. You must listen as well as speak, you must think of it as a dance. Its not about you blabbing to avoid silence.

Sometimes in conversation there are silent pauses, and those pauses can be good! (aka a lot of times when a girl goes silent, she doesn't want your conversation, she wants your kiss...)

How are people on here going to tell you how to converse when conversation itself isn't a constant?

If conversation was a constant, there would be cheat sheets on here and this subreddit would be useless. People would just memorize the cheat sheets and get laid. End of story.

Having a conversation is a skill. You need to take what the other person is saying and give something from your end as well. You both need to contribute and keep it going together.

No two conversations are the same. It's an art. Keep practicing. Stop looking for shortcuts!

Agreed, listen because it’s a dance. Though practically a really good exercise to do (at home) is free association. This will help train your brain to be able to start intelligently thread topics together. I do it 4 minutes every day and has found that it has helped a lot + it’s a load of fun. Helps with confidence knowing that you can hold conversations and with that you are not afraid of the silence and can choose whether to contribute or let her fill the gap.
