I was at the night club with my friends a few days ago. I was at the bar counter waiting to get a drink. A beautiful girl, maybe two years older than me, comes up to me and asks me how my night was going. I told her it was ok, but really nothing special. She said she was looking at me earlier and I looked like I was either angry or miserable. She told me I was good looking and girls would love it if I smiled more. The conversation went along for a while, it was awkward as hell on my part. She got her drink and her friends came to get her and she said "Maybe we'll meet again tonight."

The point I was told I looked miserable hit me very hard. I'm miserable. I don't know how to not be. I don't know how to hide it. I didn't even know it was so obvious, but I guess if someone who sees me for the first time and doesn't know anything about me can describe it with the exact word, it must be.

I have no idea how to go on. I'm 20 years old, starting medical school this September. On my past time I go to the gym, read books, play the piano, hang out with my friends and play video games. I love all these things. When I do these things, I feel good, but in the end I'm just trying to suffocate the misery. I'm socially shit and bad with strangers. I never know what to talk about and I hate the chit chat. I hate talking about meaningless crap.

Any advice?
